Deccan foundation is a registered, non-profit organization, registered under section 12A of the Income-tax, 1961; providing services related to healthcare & health awareness to the underprivileged. It has been started by a group of doctors and has been joined by philanthropists across the globe.
It aims to provide value-added healthcare services that employ financial support directly or indirectly to the deserving through sponsorship programs, treatment funding programs, or fundraising activities after an evaluation by a scientific team of experts to the underprivileged or unaffordable people.
We also would provide support for various medical investigations and treatments in terms of subsidy or concessions for services availed at our tie-up/network centers and waiver of professional charges on case to case basis.
To improve living and health conditions, it also aims to conduct various health camps, specialty medical camps, awareness talks, and activities to promote and adopt healthy lifestyles and improve awareness to seek medical attention early in times of need.
The organization also provides free medical advice and helps people to find the appropriate medical care, guidance for further evaluation and treatment of various medical conditions and ailments, and connects to experts in various fields of medicine.

Some core support areas include cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, women and child care, general medicine, general surgery, pain and palliative care, nephrology and urology, and pediatric surgery.. All donations made towards Deccan foundation are eligible for tax deductions under section 80G as per Income Tax Act.

Our Inspiration
Deccan foundation – Dr Raghunandan Raj Suksena – The Inspiration, a Legendary Figure of Hyderabad!
Dr. Raghunandan Raj Suksena, fondly remembered as Dr. R. R. Suksena, one of the earliest MBBS graduates of Hyderabad, dedicated his entire life to alleviating the suffering of ailing patients in Hyderabad and surrounding rural areas at a time when medical & health care facilities were not only primitive but also inadequate.
Dr.Suksena was born on 6th March 1907. He obtained his MBBS degree from Osmania Medical College in 1937. He then joined Government service & was posted in Alampur of the then-Nizam Dominion, where he dedicated himself to the service of the people of rural areas.
After resigning from Govt Service, he relocated to Hyderabad, as he was destined to play a far more significant role in the service of humanity. He started his famous Deccan Clinic near the historic Charminar on 5th January 1939. This clinic has been functional for 82 years, providing yeoman service to the people of Hyderabad. There was not a single household in the old & the new cities of Hyderabad which had not availed & benefitted from Dr. Suksena’s services.
With profound knowledge and unrivaled professional skills, he devoted 20 hours a day towards patient care doing yeoman service for the poor and suffering, year after year for over forty years. His dedication to his profession was so selfless that he was unmindful of his family responsibilities & even neglected his health, so much so in his later years with failing health & immobility on account of varicose veins, he got a unique examining table on which he could examine three patients by sitting on a unique chair mounted on rails facilitating easy movement. Such love for alleviating the suffering of ailing humanity was without a parallel & unheard off.
Dr. Suksena was a multifaceted personality. He was not only a good physician but also an incredibly kind, generous adorable human being-a Messiah, in the real sense, of the poor & the ailing. He had always respected the feelings of his well-wishers. Even though he had dedicated his life to the alleviation of human suffering yet he also found time for social responsibilities. The best example of this was that, despite being engrossed for over 20 hours a day in his professional work, he never used to miss attending to any invitation for a few minutes.
Amazingly, he had a lot of interest in arts & literature. He had a rare passion for Urdu literature. An accomplished poet, he distinguished himself by penning down thousands of ‘Rubaiyat’. His work of excellence was published in three volumes, under the pen name of ‘ILHAAM’, as ‘Rubiyat-E-Ilhaam’. He was honored for his accomplishment with the title of ‘MAHTAB-E-RUBAYI by Idar-E-Adab Urdu, Hyderabad.
Married to the granddaughter of Raja Girdhari Persad, better known as Bansi Raja, Dr Suksena was blessed with two sons and seven daughters, four of whom became doctors.
Dr. Suksena left this world, after a brief illness, on 12th April 1991, leaving behind a rich legacy of service, high moral & social values, and a host of descendants to not only mourn his passing away but also to carry forward the highest traditions of service, social & moral standards he set for himself which made him a Legend-an institution in himself!
